Zama Recreation Society
Zama Recreation Society
We operate multiple facilities... the Community Hall which hosts most community functions. It is available for rentals and programs.
The Zama Recreation Society was incorporated as a Society in 1982. We are a recognized non-profit organization and have a operational agreement with Mackenzie County to operate the community facilities. We receive some operational and capital funding from the County. We also rent the community facilities and complete many fundraising initiatives over the year. Our organization provides recreational services and programming for all age groups in the Community; as well we maintain the recreation & community facilities within the Hamlet that fall under the umbrella of the Zama Recreation Society.
HALL HISTORY:
The original Community Hall was a portable unit donated to the community by Rainbow Pipelines. The current Hall was built in 1983 - 1984; it features a main hall, kitchen, bar facilities, upstairs meeting area and office. In 2004 the south expansion shell was completed, currently this space is being utilized as a Youth centre / program space for many different programs available to community members. The main hall also doubles as the school gymnasium.

It hosts an asphalt pad and a heated skating shack. The rink is located behind the CommunityHall. Rink History: was originally built in 1975, and then moved in 1980 because of the new school construction, andthen the rink was completely rebuilt in 1999-2000.
